Frequently Asked Questions
YES. Getting the certificate of public liability insurance from the contractor will provide you with the assurance that the coverage is current.
We don’t require you to be home all the time, but we do ask that you’re available at least once a week for us to provide you with updates on our progress and address any questions or concerns you may have. Our team typically arrives on the job site before you need to leave for work, and we can arrange to pick up a key from you beforehand if necessary.
We’ve never had any issues with the reliability of our painters, and we treat your home with the utmost respect and care. However, we understand that some homeowners may prefer to be present while work is being done, and we completely respect that preference. Many of our clients are not at home while we’re working, and our team will be hard at work painting while you’re out and about.
The duration of your project is dependent on various factors and may vary from project to project. We provide an estimated start and end date in our proposal to help you plan accordingly. We commit to working on your project consistently every day until completion, barring any unforeseeable events like unfavorable weather conditions that impede our progress.
Typically, once you have signed the contract and selected your desired colors, we can schedule your project within one to three weeks. However, please note that we cannot schedule your project until both requirements are met. Nevertheless, we have a team of professional painters, and we strive to accommodate your timeline as much as possible.
The length of the project can range from a quick 4-5 days to a more extended duration, contingent on various factors such as the condition of the paint surfaces, the type of work involved, our schedule, and the weather conditions, especially for exterior projects.
Upon consulting with you, we can assess your unique needs and give you an estimate of how long we anticipate your painting project will take to complete.
In general, the longevity of an exterior painting job can range from 5 to 10 years. It’s advisable to not postpone the painting until the house begins to show signs of extensive peeling, as that can result in higher costs due to additional preparation time and possible dry rot repair work. If the property is already in poor condition upon arrival, it’s best to invest more time and effort in ensuring that the surface is thoroughly prepped. The goal is to create a durable base for the new coats of paint to stick to, which may require extra time but will ultimately result in a longer-lasting paint job.
To get your home ready for a fresh coat of paint, there are a few steps you can take to ensure a smooth and hassle-free experience. Firstly, we recommend removing all small items and breakables from the room to be painted. If you have larger furniture pieces that you’d like us to move for you, just let us know and we’ll be happy to oblige.
Once we arrive to paint, we’ll take care of everything else. Our crew will move all furniture into the center of the room and expertly cover it to protect it from any paint drips or splatters. All floors will also be protected with drop cloths to prevent any accidental spills.
For interior painting jobs, any remaining items in the room will be carefully covered with clean drop cloths or plastic sheeting. Exterior painting jobs require a bit more preparation, as we’ll need to protect surrounding shrubs and other areas to prevent any paint damage.
Rest assured that when we’re finished with your painting project, we’ll put everything back in its place and leave your home looking clean and beautiful.
To ensure the longevity and quality of your paint job, it is recommended to regularly inspect both the interior and exterior of your home. Examine the exterior for signs of damage such as dry rot, water penetration, cracks, and chalking. Once a year, pressure washing your home can help remove any accumulated surface dirt.
To keep your home’s interior looking its best, pay extra attention to high-traffic areas such as switches, knobs, kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and corridors, as these spots tend to accumulate more dirt and grime over time. To prevent dirt from becoming embedded in the paint film, it is important to clean these areas regularly with a mild detergent, soft cloth, or sponge. Avoid using harsh cleaners as they can dull the sheen or gloss of oil-based paint.
To maintain the beautiful finish of your painted surfaces, opt for gentle, non-abrasive cleaners that are specifically designed for use on walls and trim, preserving the gloss and sheen of your satin, semi-gloss, and gloss paints. After washing, ensure surfaces are thoroughly rinsed to prevent any residual cleaner from interfering with the adhesion of paint applied later.
Paint sheen denotes the extent of light reflection on a coated or varnished surface, which can range from zero to high shine. While some paint brands may label their sheen levels using distinct terms, the most common types of paint sheen, in ascending order of reflectivity, are:
Matte finish
Eggshell finish
Satin finish
Semi-gloss finish
High-gloss finish
In the event of precipitation during a painting project, we closely monitor both current weather conditions and upcoming forecasts. Should rain commence during our work, we promptly suspend operations and await more favorable conditions before resuming.
Avoid relying solely on pricing information as it may not accurately reflect the level of detail and quality you desire for your project. Instead, we recommend scheduling an on-site visit with our team to ensure an accurate estimate. We advise against accepting quotes over the phone, as it is difficult for our painters to provide an accurate estimate without seeing the job firsthand. At the end of the on-site visit, we will provide you with a printed proposal.
The cost of your project will depend on various factors, such as the level of attention to detail and thoroughness required. Properly preparing surfaces for painting, for instance, will result in a higher cost than a quick coat. We can provide a detailed breakdown of the cost calculations for your project, allowing you to compare our bid with other options.
Factors that contribute to the final cost include the size and type of area to be painted, the type of windows and trim work involved, the number and intensity of paint colors, the level of protection needed for plants and furniture, the quality of paint used, and the extent of surface preparation required. We will take all these factors into consideration to provide you with an accurate and fair estimate.
To confirm your booking, we would require a deposit from you. However, it’s crucial to conduct a comprehensive background check of the contractor’s company and verify their suppliers’ reliability with local businesses before making any significant deposits, including a 10% deposit.
